Does the job, but it is the older model
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
When I ordered the adapter, I was under the impression that it was not only New in Box but also the newest model available. I got the impression that it was New In Box because it was under the “New” section. When it arrived, it was opened and put in the carry pouch already which makes me think that it was used previously. Secondly, it is the previous version that is smaller than the newest available. This had me worried because I didn’t know if it would work with my laptop or not. Over all the product is good, but the buyer doesn’t give proper information as to whether its truly “new” or if its been opened as mine was and which generation the adapter was. Not sure if I would buy from them again as it did save me nearly 50 dollars but wasn’t what I thought I was getting.

Here’s a TIP…
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The power adapter seems to function well enough, but if you move you laptop around at all while it’s plugged in, the tip seems to break easily.

On the Targus website, you can order replacement tips for about $10 plus tax and S&H. I’m currently on my fourth tip and have three more waiting for when this one fails…

By the way, I’ve only had this power adapter for less than a year (and already on the fourth tip)!

Don’t buy it!

I bought this product for $99 in February. The package promises a 2 year limited warranty guarantee. It stopped working in September and they notified me that they don’t cover warranties for Gateway Laptops. I was informed that I was suppose to call their 800 number before opening the product to see if it was compatible. Guess it should be called the “Sort of Universal Wall Power Wall Adaptor”

After not knowing where to look for a new power adapter I looked to Amazon. They had just what we needed.

I’ve used this product for exactly 1 year and it has stopped working. Purchased from Best Buy for $90 too expensive, had hoped for the price it would have worked longer. Honestly this apapter should cost no more than $40. Also if you have to move your computer at all the plug falls out easily and computer cuts off as this adapter WILL NOT charge battery.

Don’t Waste Your Money

I bought a Targus APA01 Universal Adapter less than a year ago to replace a broken power adapter for an old laptop. I recently purchased a new laptop, so I went to the Targus website to see which of my tips was compatible. To my surprise, my tips aren’t even mentioned in their compatibility chart.

I called customer service, and they couldn’t tell me either. I got evasive run-around B.S. when I asked why my adapter, which is less than 1 year old, isn’t supported anymore. When it became obvious I wasn’t going to get an answer or a solution to my problem, I requested they replace my product with something they would support. That’s when she finally told me straight-up that it wasn’t their problem – that I needed to that that up with the retailer I purchased it from.

I should have simply bought the $30 OEM replacement for my old laptop instead of buying this thing, thinking that I was buying something that would continue to benefit me in the future.

defective, makes buzzing sound
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
1) The adaptor that plugs into computer keeps falling out.

2) Way too expensive, paid $100 at Staples

3) After 15 minutes of use, makes an annoying high pitched buzzing sounds. I suspect an inferior Chinese counterfeit capacitor in the AC input cord.

Good Emergency Adapter on the Road
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My 2nd Dell E1505 laptop power adapter failed and I had to fork out $100+tax to buy this thing on the road. It works well and I have 9 other adapter tips. It’s reasonably compact, has an attached velcro strap for the cables, and comes with a nice little travel bag. Not like those cheap knockoff dell adapters that break their wires when you wrap them up for storage. I’ve had this only for a few days but so far so good. Since I’m not swapping out adapters every day I don’t forsee any problems with the tips.

Pass on this

The charger tips are cheaply made and this product costs WAY much more than it’s worth.
